Photographers in the frame
We are misanthropes (here we said it!) … we are blooming in a pair, getting along in a crowd of four, but as the number of people around us grows the feeling of suffocation increases. So the question is: how can one be in Peru without going up to Machu Picchu (crowded!), touring New York without going through the Time Square (loaded!), participating in the Pride Parade in London (jam-packed!), exploring Argentina without the Iguazu Falls (very busy!), or visiting Yellowstone without waiting for the Old Faithful to erupt (packed!). A hint – even though all these places have a much larger amount of tourists than they (or my soul) can handle – still one must visit them, stand in traffic jams of people, walk a route specially designed for you and a few million more, stand in line for an overpriced bottle of water and take pictures with everyone right in the corners specially designed for that purpose.
Eureka – we found a solution! Not only that we do not suffer, but even enjoy it and are excited, regardless that there are a lot of people around us.
Already a few years ago we have started a project, where we take pictures of people photographing the ‘photo’ sites – capturing the photographers in the frame. In fact, the more photo-target objects and sites there are, the more we would have normally suffered, whereas now we have fun . So now we walk around looking for people taking pictures – a bit like anthropologists .
