Slovenia

October 2021, we are travelling in Europe and decided to go to Slovenia, one of the more beautiful countries.

Kozjianski park

After we got used to the yellow of Israel, Romania and Hungary we arrived in Slovenia and everything is green as if they had not heard of autumn here, landscapes of picturesque villages between the slopes of green hills and vineyards. Very nice people and most of them speak English. In the restaurants the waiters are dressed like penguins, the amount of cutlery sets is greater than the amount of dishes and the food is not bad … an interesting phenomenon, churches here are on a hill to which leads a steep path (40 floors) marked as Via Dolorosa in creative ways (see examples).

Ljubljana

Anyone who has visited here has probably fallen in love with it. A large old town full of pedestrian streets, a lively and pleasant atmosphere, and of course a river flowing in the middle with lots of bridges.

P.S. There was a big demonstration here yesterday (thousands of people for several hours), but very calm, against the vaccination certificate obligation (if we did understand correctly ..)

Bled lake, Julian Alps

We are on the outskirts of the Slovenian Alps, walking around Lake Bled. We are between the seasons here, it is no longer summer, and the ski season has not started yet. Although most of the places of entertainment are closed or standing half empty, it was still decided, by a majority of votes, that between the vital atmosphere and plenty of tourists, and the quiet and isolation, we prefer the latter…

Bohinj lake

As the well-known cliché says ‘one picture is worth 1000 words …’ and since I have nothing to say today, so here are just the pictures from the Slovenian Alps, Lake Bohinj region ..

Vrsic Pass

We get up every morning to a fog that covers the surroundings so that you do not see the tree in front of the window … and then, in a short drive up the mountain, you go up over the clouds and watch them from above … Then, in the late morning, everything clears up and wonderful views of the Alps are a delight to your eyes. Today we went on road 206, Versailles crossing – one of the most beautiful places we have seen .. The turquoise river Socha flows at the beginning of the crossing and some of us (guess who!) could not resist the temptation, gathered courage and jumped into it (!) Even though it was barely 12 degrees outside, not to mention the water temperature …

Ecuador and Columbia

Ecuador is one of our favorite countries on the trip, as if it found a way to take the best from the West while keeping the spirit of South America. In Colombia, on the other hand, we had a feeling of insecurity and we just went through it.

Central America

After three months on the Andes in South America where each country is different , in Central America everything is similar – the people, the landscapes, the food (and maybe it’s just us), we tried to find the differences and point them out.

We like walking, and the Camino does provide an opportunity, but this route is much more – spiritual, international, social, and therefore we will return to it.
